Q. I love the veena and would like to learn to play it. Is it necessary to take vocal lessons too?

A. Yes, it is absolutely necessary. Whatever be the instrument, if it is Indian classical music, what we play on an instrument must be a true representation of vocal music. So it is imperative that we have in depth knowledge of vocal music simultaneously with learning to play an instrument.

Q. I am living outside India. I learnt veena when I was in India but have lost touch now. Can you help me?

A. Online classes are given by us through Skype. You can make use of this facility and revive your interest.

Q. I am very much interested in classical music, but my daily routine is such that it will be difficult to find time to practice. Is there a solution?

A. Unfortunately there is no solution to this. One has to find time to practice, only then will it be a worthwhile pursuit – for the teacher and the taught.

Q. If I start learning music now, when will I be able to give a full-fledged concert?

A. Learning the art should not be driven by the fascination for the stage. It will happen by itself in due course depending on your aptitude and dedication.

Q. There is nothing that I can do besides just attending classes and practicing my lessons at home. Do you have methods by which I can increase my musical knowledge?
A. Of course. Veenavaadhini has a collection of music which it shares with its students from time to time so that they can improve their knowledge further.
